Anyone have info on running a power wire from the battery to the trunk? My buddy has a 2003 LX and we're installing all sorts of audio and PC crap into it. Not sure how to take apart the interior to get the power wire run.

    Thanks all.

I just got done taking mine apart and putting it back together. i have a 2003 EXL-V6. as far as pointers its pretty easy if you have the balls (or the beer as in my case) to just start taking things out.

I removed the front driver seat then the back seats then the runner panels and ran all the wires to the battery following the cables you will find under the runners. nothing a wire coat hanger couldnt handle when it came to the firewall. as far as from the cabin to the trunk its pretty easy once you have the back seat completely out. as you did in the front just follow the factory cables into the trunk...

as far as installation i used 10g Stinger power cables and a 15A stinger fuse holder and fuse as well as all stinger terminals.

I also ran the RCA's up the middle under the backseats under the carpet and then into the center console up to where the soundgate will eventually be to plug into the AUX of the factory radio.

im a bit drunk as i just got back from a concert so you may have some questions and i wont be proof reading this scrambled mess of words but feel free to ask away!

and for the record i did it ALL starting at 10pm at night so if a complete nub like myself can do it in the dark with just the dome light on you should be fine! i should have taken pictures to prove it :-/

Can you provide any details on how to remove the runner panels and the side pieces that cover where the seatbelt goes?

I started pulling on them and they seem to just snap off, but my friend is afraid I'm going to break something.

I see some tabs under the front of the rear seat, what do you do with these in order to release the bottom of the rear seat?

I found that grommet in the firewall you're referring to, I was planning on using that and running the power wires up the drivers side. I was going to run the RCAs up the middle or the passenger side.

Any tips on getting these pieces off would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Ok, I'll try my best. The runner panels on the floorboards:
If you pop the cover off near the trunk and fuel door lever you will notice a brass screw. thats the only screw you need to undo to get the panel off. after that screw its simply a matter of popping it off the tabs. do it forcefully as it wasnt very easy but not to hard that you will snap the tabs. if there is a specific direction to pull it off easy im not aware of it. i was afraid of snapping the tabs as well and thats why i involved alchohol so i wouldnt mind as much if i did snap them off and had to buy new parts.

As far as the back seat... i first removed the 2 pieces that make up the top part of the back seat which involved lowering the back seats and where they meet you will have a metal bracket to the smaller of the 2 sections towards the bottom where the 2 sections meet. unscrew the 2 screws and push the bracket back. this will allow you to life the seat up a bit and pull it away from the side panel where its only held in with a metal rod. once the smaller secion is out you will have to unscrew the one bolt that hold the larger secion in. its also holding the metal bracket. that should allow you to take out the larger section of the seat the same way you did the other one: by pulling away from the side panel and it will slide right out. once thats done you will have to lift up the front of the bottom part of the rear seat and on either side you will fine a black retaining clip holding the seat down. this part was kind of tricky to figure out how to unclip. theres a black plastic piece that you need to pull out towards the front seats and it will release the seat. its kind of hard to pull so dont be afraid to use a little force. before i forget theres one bolt (that i lost ) holding the bottom seat to the frame of the car. its located on the drivers side of the bottom of the rear seat. then the clips and pull oout the bottom of the rear seat.

That should take care of the seats and the runner. i couldnt figure out how to get the side rear panels off so i used a coat hanger to fish the wires through it and into the trunk you can also pull the bottom of the panels up quite a bit to manually pull the wires through quite a ways with just your hands.

thats pretty much all i did to run the wire from the battery to my trunk for the PSU power. i also ran the rcas up the center through the console and up into the dash so i can hook the soundcard of the computer to the soundgate then to the AUX port of the radio. everything is wired and done i just need to finish painting the bezel for the Lilliput and find a good place to mount the computer in the trunk. Should be all done in a couple weeks.

hope this helps if you have any more questions feel free...

I also just noticed someone asked earlier in the thread about fabricating a lower mount for a screen. this is the road i took since i have the dual climate control and cant ditch my stock HU. So far its all done being fiberglassed i just need to sand a bit more fill in some imperfections sand some more paint sand paint sand and it should be all done. I will post some more pictures of the progress when I get home from the office. Its looking exactly as i hoped it would and i wish more people were working on this so we could share some info so you guys need to GET TO WORK!
