to be honest, we just ripped (without breaking) everything out. THe cars are like legos.....you just have to screw around....with your 8 metric sockets and wrenches

Those are pics from a weekend of fun my buddy and I had...and yes, I did put components in the rear, way better IMHO. Here is a link to almost 50 pics

Its looking exactly as i hoped it would and i wish more people were working on this so we could share some info so you guys need to GET TO WORK!

sure you can ditch your factory HU......how much do you kow about soldering? relocate the CC info where the cubby is.....just takes longer, and requires electronic knowledge

sure you can take it out or move the components but i like the fact that i can set the climate to a certain tempreture rather then just guessing what its at. i also enjoy the stock look of the HU.

that is attainable...there is a thread about a maxima or something like that that did the same thing, looked OEM

Considering i have already seen the stock HU out of the dash I dont think its even remotely possible to move to the bottom opening as it is a huge brick of an HU with only the controls being seperate. you would have to design and build your own custom serial interface that would work with the existing climate control hardware which i believe to be out of the techincal scope of 99.9999% of the people on this thread. In my model of 03' accord as i turn the temperature dial it displays a number on the HU's screen. the only way to fix this would be moving the ENTIRE unit w/ controls.

there is another option though.... mounting the screen in the bottom opening like im doing and problem solved!

if the temperature displays on the screen how are you going to remove the stock HU and still know what temperature you have the CC set to?

I dont have that...but if I did, it would be just a matter of extending the leads of the display elsewhere, and making a shroud for it in the cubby hole, not too much more work

i mean i suppose you could but is that really practical?

It just seems to me that if you have dual CC then the easiest way to do it is just mount the screen in the lower portion of the column?
