    mp3 player help

    Hey, I know nothing about technology and stuff but i need to help my friend.

    When she turns on her mp3 player it says

    Error reformat internal media as fat16

    then it switches off

    could someone tell me how to fix this please

    do what the error says. it wants the drive or chip the mp3player stores the data on to be reformatted. read its manual, and see if theres anyway to do it, if not, then sorry. if you read these boards, you'd know we don't deal with hardware mp3 players much.

    Here is an idea, more information would be good for anyone to be able to help.
    What player is it?
    What does the manual for the player say?
    What is the media type (is it a Hard Drive?)?

    Try the manufacuters web site or google for ideas.
    Try what Grayscale mentioned (format the media as fat 16) BTW that would be an orig wion 95 format option. Later win OSes do not use it but can read from it.

    Probably plug it in via USB, look and see if it shows up as a disk drive, then choose format by right clicking on it, then choose FAT 16
