A Simple Answer Would Do

I have a slim dvd made by compaq. It has a USB and a power cord coming from it. The power plug goes into your wall. How do I power it in my car. Do I cut the power cord and splice into something else. This is easy for you guys. A simple explanation of where the best power source is would be great and how to do it. I HAVE SEARCHED!

What voltage does the power cord provide? If it doesn't say on the wall adapter, you may need to cut the cable and measure for yourself.

If it takes 12v or 5v, then you're on easy street. Just make a molex connector and power it off of your computer power supply. If it's something else, then it's a little more complicated.

Please specify if the power plug that goes into your wall is a AC/DC converter. Or a simple plug.

If its a normal power plug than the AC/DC converter is inside the dvd drive. If this is the case and you want an easy way out, use an inverter.

Also a Picture or model numer would be usefull.

He PM'd me to ask what to do next, it needs 5v. My answer, look up the color code for a molex power connector and splice into the 5v line. Don't remember if it's the red or yellow one.
