There are so many potential configurations that a sticky like this would be pointless, IMHO.
I would think the single most pressing question on a newbie's mind would be which form factor and which motherboard to choose for their project. I think it would be incredibly helpful if there were a thread for mobos stating the following.
1. The form factors available and their pros and cons with respect to carputing.
2. Which Mobos are most commonly used and their pros and cons with respect to carputing. Including cost, heat issues, which are better with what PSUs.
3. What adapters and accessories are available for each mobo. Like PCI Expanders etc.
4. What setups are used commonly with each board. For instance, Epox w/ this processor and this fan.
Just a thought.

I agree with your point, but you could count the most common boards on one hand right? I'm not saying list all possible combinations, I'm just saying maybe something to get everyone started. You know, basically illustrating the pros and cons of Mini-ITX, Shuttle, Etc. Then experienced people could list their boards in the thread and any pros and cons they've experienced.
