Anyone from Chicago know where to get a good install??

i searched, and i couldnt find anything on the forums... but does anyone know of a good install shop for my carputer?? im in chicago, and i am willing to drive a good distance to get there (no, not to nebraska... but a couple hours, if need be)... ive been recommended to go to tweeter, bc they will do a good job... buuuut im not about to go pay as much as i did to build the comp for an install... so i was just wonderin if anyone know anything.. thanks

ummm....how much are you wanting to spend? because paying to have someone install your stuff right is going to cost you because it's going to take a fair deal of time.

Why don't you just install it yourself? what are you wanting to do? custom mold it in or just throw it in the trunk and hook it up to your factory radio?

and btw - tweeter is just about right on (down here) as far as labor costs go....par with any other shop that I might actually trust to touch my car....I won't trust any shop with my own vehicle though, I'd rather do it myself, know how it actually goes it and know how to trouble shoot it so I don't have to pay someone to do that too....

I say try it yourself, it's not hard.

im in chicago area...i know a few guys that do custom work..depends on exactly what you want to get done..email me or pm me with pics and what you want done..ill contact them and see what they can do..by the way these guys work in custom car audio shops and can work wonders! chicago is LOADED with high quality installers.. i know a few! hit me up

yeah i want it to look completely stock... im not gunna just throw the **** around... ya know...

fromteh looks of things there is no molding involved...they just stuck it back there?

cept i want the dvd slot drive to be molded in underneath the screen in that little bit of space that is there.... i dont think i could do that myself.

I would at least run all the wiring and connections myself. You could save yourself a lot of money. Then maybe just leave the center pieces of the dash with someone to do the custom fab work. What kind of budget are you working with for a shop install?

as for the slot load - you won't be able to mold the entire face in, you will have to do something like what I have had to do:

otherwise the top part of that face plate is too thin to be molded in and have it last and look good

now a full size dvd drive is a different story though, my first install I molded a full size in completely, that was over a year ago, when they didn't really have the slim-slots

im tryin to keep my overall budget between 1500-2g...
im gunna be puttin my computer under my pass seat, so there isnt too much distance to run the wires (i saw you had yours in your trunk)... but thats still not a bad idea.. ill have to pull up the seat... and thats a pain in the *** bc the airbag schitt gets all messed up then i have to take it back to the dealership to have them fix it... but oh well, if thats what it takes to save a few bucks... then im down.

and as for the slim drive molding... i am gunna buy this thing that you put the slim line into, and it turns into a regular dvd drive and connects by usb or something like that... heres a link.. http://www.shentech.com/suusb1excaen.html
that way, i will still have the slot load, but it will fit right in that little space i have left... if it all gets done correctly... it will look badass... the big problem is just tryin to get it done right...
