Considerations?

What should I take into consideration as im planning my system Like i know the obvious question of " what do I want it to do " but beyond that what should i think about as i start planning this in-dash system. If it maters its going in an older dodge intrepid a 95.

How will you:
control it (touch screen, keyboard/mouse, keypad)
Power it (inverter, DC-DC)
Display (character LCD, Composite, VGA, none, multiple)

What generation of PC tech will you use ( this affects power consumption )

Thanks, for your input, Where do you recomend shopping for parts at, of course there is here but where else I have just within the past week decided to do this Ive thought about it since About 97 but untill now i just didnt see a good way to do it.
