Power (no not your normall question)

Ok, instead of going down the stand carputer root I have decided to get a laptop instead....

This means i can get a laptop car charger cut the cig lighter end of and wire it in....

one problem, how to turn it on....
any ideas, itll be held in the boot. The only option I can think of is to open it up and wire in a second switch and run taht to the dash board. Maybe on a something like a phone Jack lead so it can be removed... cut out a small hole in case and put the scoket, then have a phone lead with a switch on the end...

    Anyway ideas thoughts..

I did exactely what you described. I removed the modem in my laptop and used that space for the connector. Two wires were used for the switch and for the other two I connected a power and ground for an "ON" light. I works pretty well.

This may be a stupid idea, but check whether your laptop has wake-on-lan feature and if yes, you could use it without need for any kind of modding your laptop.
