I got 4 Gauge wire running through my firewall. There is a hole big enough i'm sure in your car. Try looking where the steering wires run through the firewall. That's the best place to start. Anything you need for installing a amp and routing wires can be found here http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-...de.html?page=1
or run teh power wire under the car with the brake lines or the rear washer pipe.
just make sure its shielded
I have had good luck following the hood release cable on newer cars.
wow - that's absolutely scary
I don't know of anyone who installs car audio that would recomend running the power for the amplifier off of such a small current source...
that's pretty scarry
that 800 watt amp is probably more like 400 watts, which is still too much of a pull IMO
you need to take a look at the size of the fuse that's on that lighter source...
if it's 60 amps and below - 8 gua is fine
if it's above 60 amps you need 4 guage
I would honnestly just go back and spend some time looking at your fire wall...remove the carpet, pull it back, and take a flash light under your dash with you. Look for a small open area and get a good idea of where it is at, then look under the hood and see if you can tell where that clear space is on the other side of the firewall...take a unibit and start to drill away - you would be wise to have someone standing outside of the car looking down into the engine compartment to watch your drill bit and make sure you don't hit anything vital
I would get out there and do that ASAP.
I spent ages looking for holes but there was none to find and i didnt want to drill holes cause of the warrenty, i will try post some pics but cause the zafira have such a small ffront everythink is mega packed together all the wires which go into the car are all done via connecters no strait through cables.
Also another question as im new to all this, i would like to add a extra battery in the back to power all the stuff i want to add how to i go about doing that?
I've got news for you
drilling holes in your firewall won't void your warranty any more than putting in an aftermarket stereo system in your car will....
ESPECIALLY when you ghetto rig something like the power for the amp from the secondary cigarette lighter.
as for adding a second battery, that's been covered NUMEROUS times on here...there are some precautions you need to take when installing a seocnd battery in a car that doesn't come with one....you also need to consider the type of battery you will use since it's going to be INSIDE the passanger compartment
I would honnestly consider upgrading your factory battery and wiring before I would look at adding a second battery...
I doubt you will need a secondary battery, this is done when WAY too much power is used. Try and upgrade the battery like Red said, you could try the Optima batteries. In some cases, the second battery is overkill.
Yes, sounds like extra dead weight at this point.
I was only thinking of a secound battery as a furture idea my plan is 4x JL Audio 12 Subs, CarPC, I already have factory DVD Player and Fridge also have the 800w Amp and will need to add a secound amp which i want to power all the door speakers 4x Mids and 4x Tweeters. Anyways will work this out l8r, thanks everyone for the help so far
Yes, but still, I don't think you'd need a second battery, even with that setup.
