Sure, but how much airflow cooling do they achieve? Your second comment answers that largely. The ITPS has a max rating of 60W so they don't need to provide much cooling...

Definitely seems better than most but its got a very limited selection. Also, you can reduce the USB current requirements if you know what each of your devices needs. Most are 100mA devices which means the max current draw is 100mA or below. For e.g. my GPS is a 100mA USB device as far as Windows knows. The manufacturer told me they never draw more than 60. So allocating 2.5W for every device is overkill unless they are all DVDs or network NICs and will actually use that.

Since you have a stupidly power hungry setup you probably want something like this:

or an invertor and ATX power supply. I'd recommend the latter Since you say you will have a dedicated battery for it.

For all of you who think this is overpowered you are absolutely right. But if im gonna do this im going all out. This isnt the first custom job ive done. Its just the first computer ive installed in my truck. And i want the power of my desktop in my truck. If i want to play computer games on my lunch break i dont want my system to suck. And yes 120 mm fans are better than 40mm. I wasnt thinking at that hour of the morning. And by the way the pw 200 can be regulated with the ITPS from Minibox.com with a proper heat sink installed. And since the previous mentioned specs are off my old computer than im not spending any extra money besides installation costs. And i hope to hell it does get stollen cuz a thing like full coverage insurance means i get paid back if it does. And ill put an even bigger one in there. But good luck trying to steal it without a crow bar and a blow torch. This will be a complete custom setup including dash, center console and a sub wall in back. And if i can find enough power to run 4 1000 watt subs in this truck i can find enough for an over powered pc. The problem is regulating it and the heating issues. But if neccessary ill vapor cool the the peice crap. But thats a step i dont want to pay for. But the calculator link that THANATOS106 porided me has a bigger setup than mine, and has 185.93 watts, 15.49 volts and 9.44 amps being drawn while the computer is running office apps. So it can be done. In fact i think i will do it. And if you dont like it...well i dont care. But i do want to give a big thanks to all of you who did provide me with some very usefull information. And if this setup fries well at least i will have learned something.

if you would do a bit of reading and researching, you would learn that the ITPS is absolutely crap

also, what size screen are you going to put in your ride?

because playing games that would require that kind of processing, etc. would be hell on a 7"/8" screen....

UP IN ARMS AGAINST THE WORLD!!!!

take a breather dood - the entire world isn't out to screw you.....

lol red. i think he doesnt have to sacrifice a kick *** carputer his only problem is using all fullsize components...try using a slim dvd drive..laptop hard drives and 4 fans..i doubt you will need 8. i used 4 in a custom case i made and it was realllly cool. didnt overheat whatsoever! you dont need 2 hard drives..thats extra power for nothing. get one laptop hard drive like 20 or 30 gig..install your OS on it and it wont draw alot of power..if you want more storage go with an external laptop hdd like 80 or 100 gig. i put an 80 in a usb enclosure and its awesome. i use it to transfer files when i need to. oh yeah and duh for power..bring it down a few watts and you can use the opus 150watt.

wanting a kick *** computer is one thing, and is understandable...I don't think anyone goes into this hobby going...I want a slow, pos computer, that doesn't have enough processing power to fart...let alone run windows...lol

but going SO overboard? if the guy had done a bit of research it would be pretty apparent, but he hasn't....which is cool, it's what this place is for...for people to learn and question, and show off their stuff!

most of the computer science people I talk to here at my University get interested in doing something like a PC in their car after we get to talking and their first reactions are like this guys....

"I'ma build the a big bad *** computer in my car, and use hwat I already have..."

then when they start asking questions and really start to look into it....they realize that it's not about running doom 3 on their computer....because it's pointless on such a small screen, but rather about making sure it's going to work and work right....lol

Where did you read that? You're proposing driving it over 3x it's rated ability. I don't think you have a hope of making that work.

I understand completely that this is gonna be a hell of a setup to get done. And in all honesty i may just wait till the Epia dual processor boards come out as a better solution. Or tone everything down a bit and us a micro atx board instead of full atx and maybe go amd instead of p4. I have done a lot of research on this over the years by the way. But since this project is going into my weekend driver/show truck i thought i would go ahead and over due it a little, or a lot. The whole idea was for this setup to be outrageous in the first place. Thats why i plan on using a 10 inch screen versus a 7 or 8. I will still do it if i can work out the logistics of the wiring, regulating power, and wirring. I agree with the rest of you that this isnt ideal for a daily driver by any means. Thank you all once again for your help. And if i offended anyone im sorry. I just dont like having my dreams ****ed on. LOL
