Question How are you viewing DVDs?

Let me clarify a bit, how are you mounting your carputer DVD drive so that it's in a usable everyday location? I can easily squeeze my whole contraption under my passenger seat, but then my dvd drive is under there and not accessible. Or I could use the furthest PSU lead and run the drive on a seperate IDE cable, but even then you can only run IDE cable for 36 inches ( I don't think I've seen longer IDE cables). So is it not a viable option for the carputer to play dvds? Or does it need to be out in the open? I hope not as that would be a PITA. Any suggestions on how to do this so the carputer DVD drive is useable and I can take that DVD player out of the glove box?

BTW I'm doing this in a 2004 Matrix XRS and using the built in Inverter to power what used to be a Compaq system. Specs below.

    Micro ATX mobo
    384mb RAM
    Celeron 1.1 ghz
    20 gb Western digital HD
    Radeon 9000 64mb (endplate removed)
    stock compaq 230watt PSU

Help me if you can. That would be great.

many people fabricate it into the dash using a comibnation of materials. most use bondo. just check the fabrication section and the "show off your project" section.

If you have a large HDD, then just rip the DVD onto your computer. http://www.dvddecrypter.com/
