LED Marquee in back window?

OK - here's a quick idea I had. I searched and came up with nothing other than a few guys talking about a giant screen.

You know those LED Marquees they have in the lottery store? Has anyone though to mount one of these in the back window? I thought it could be pretty neat to show off messages. Have a page of diff. buttons of sayings.

"Ah **** - Granny driver in front"
"@$$hole"
"Learn to drive"

Anyone know if this is illegal?

There was actually a post about it. Someone said that the person behind would call the police and tell them that you're swirving around the road and then you'll spend 30 minutes explaining that the guy was ****ed off because your sign called him a bad name

Does anyone have a specific law that's being violated? Or is this one of those 'it's so cool, it MUST be illegal....' comments where people talk out of their asses?

Probably something about distracting/flashing lights

Illegal or not, common sense will tell you that >>>

You can offend someone.
You can easily initiate a road rage.
You can distract the driver behind.

If the driver behind you smack your behind, what have you got to say when he told the insurance that he got distracted by your scrolling messages?

hell, nothing is illegal until you get caught.. the problem is that if you steal 1 million dollars and don't get caught, you can still be a honest and decent person by sociaty's standards.. now, if you still 5 bucks and get caught, oh man, you may be in trouble for the rest of your life...

Anyway, I thought there were already some Buses driving around with ever-changing advertisement stuck on its sides/back..

Also, one could quention the principle of "distracting" the drivers since there are many electronic bill-boards with changing advertising, and worst, they actually take the attention AWAY from the road (while a sign in the car is less likely to do so).. I'm not even keen of the idea of sticking fancy led messages on a car, but for all I stand for, this should be a matter of freedom rights ...
