    a question about subs?

    i know you think this is a stupid question but can u connect a 12inch sub without an amp? is it as easy as spliting the back speaker and wiring it up

    And how will you power it if not using an amp...? The subs need amps!

    you can, but you wouldn't hear much and you could overload your h/u if your impedance is too low

    tried it once out of curiosity, get a little bit of sound...whisper quiet, but could feel the driver getting a tiny tiny bit of movement.

    if you try running a subwoofer off a HeadUnit you will most likely get sound that equals to about the same output of a good pair of headphones

    I've done it too, I didnt have back speakers at the time so i hooked up two 8" MTX truck wedges and they we okay at best, no boom boom. I tried my luck with 4 subs for the rear to channel and it overloaded the h/u. Get an amp for $100 bucks at your local market and 20$ install kit at Walmart.
