I have a 96 Civic HB so its got a weird setup, it has a head unit up top, but the cd player is down below near the cup holders... i dunno why they thought of that design (probably for security reasons). My intentions was to put a CD/DVD Rom there so i can still listen to CD's and watch DVD's! And for radio i would sltil like the radio option, so im assuming to keep the radio there is some sort of usb input for it? Thnks!

Anyway... you might wanna take a closer look at the power situation... wouldnt that mobo/processor be hungry? I would expect you'll need more power, especially if your'e planning more!
Another thing, I dont know what youre gonna do with the monitor, but if it isnt going IN the dash, you may consider getting the 8" instead, as it isnt much more $, and the added size is nice, esp since BIG is ok with you.

Strange, guess great minds think alike... or maybe there was a huge sale on our parts at that time anyways, as far as power situation my brother has a 120W OPUS p/s and he told me to grab that one, so i assume that would be enough juice for me. I only figure ill be using the unit for music/movies AT MOST... maybe GPS for bling, but really the main intention for my carPC is for music. As far as the monitor, ive looked at some projects for civic hb's here and there arent many nice looking setups since the head unit setup is kinda weird so im still debating if i will be in dashing or just mounting... im leaning towards just mounting... and BIG is ok with me

I assume u were referring to the: AMD Athlon™ XP Processor PowerNow! Software for Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0 & Windows 2000 Version (exe) 3.0.4?? sounds like centrino mobile technology that alters the CPU speed according to the users CPU use (so less programs running = less CPU processing speed required) If so thanks for the link, i never knew those existed!!!

Anyone else have any other input? I assume if i buy everything ive stated in my original post i will be ok with the carPC? TIA!! u guys rock

Sorry for the bad news but this won't actually work on your CPU, because it doesn't have the PowerNow technology.

You will have to look into underclocking and undervolting your CPU, the latter is a better choice from what i've read. Reducing the voltage on the CPU will greatly reduce power requirements, but it will also reduce your clock speed.
There is also a hack that can trick some mobo's into thinking they have a Mobile Athlon CPU installed here the link.

I'm triying to find something similar for a spare Athlon 1GHz t-bird system that I have lying around (no luck as of yet).
