since the carputer im going to install is going to be located in the trunk how will I install a cd/dvd drive without having to open the trunk?
I never use a CD/DVD Drive - everything is on the CarPC HDD.
Have a search for IDE Extensions on the forum and USB CD-ROMs
What if a friend has a DVD that he/she wants to watch? I guess youd have to download it to the hard drive, huhOriginally Posted by UK_MP3Car
nope... search for ide to usb adapters. you'll find a bunch of info about it; actually just go and purchase one; you dont even have to do a search, just hook it up and you're good to go

I'm normally the only person in the car, so I get to choose what is on anyway :-)
Very rare I have passengers, usually on the weekend and they can listen to what I want

RIGHT ALLOW ME AS I NEVER BASH NOOBS!:
I did actually answert his before in your other post:
To runt he DVD drive remotely you can use either an IDE (drive end) to USB2 or firewire (PC end) adapter.
YOu can buy these seaparately or in enclosures you can hack apart - normally the cheaper option as you get the slim drive adapter included. I sayt his because slim DVD drives (get a slot if its goin in your dash as trays are fragile and look horrible) have a different connector to 2.5 and 3.5" HDDs.
If you have firewire and no other firewire devices then use firewire for the DVD it has a higher sustained data rate. USB2 is more than adequate but you are best keeping you USB ports for other things if you have firewire.
Now, I have to say this question has been answered a lot of times and please please searhc a bit more. Not only to stop the same questions appearing over and over but you learn so much while searching it is unbelievable. You will learn things you didnt even know you didnt know or ad thought of! trust me. trawlign though answers helps you in so many ways!
