    USB problem

Since a lot of mini ITX motherboards only have 2 usb ports and almost every hardware uses USB plug in; is there a usb splitter. Im sure id need at least 4+ usb ports to run everything...

Ever heard of a USB hub? it is a device which you plug into a USB port and it gives you more usb ports. YOu can daisy chain them to make more and more. I think the maximum number of devices is over 200!!

BUT beware. The usb port has a maximum bandwidth 12mb/s for USB1 and 480 for USB2 and that is the maximum so you want to get devices such as DVD drives on their own channel to make sure they have enough bamdwidth on USB2.

You can also add USB2 ports using a PCI USB2 addon card.

ERM i don't mean to be rude but can iask how much experience you have with computers?

I reallyhtink you might need to learn a bit more:

    thry this site http://www.pctechguide.com/

and aslo the stickies at the top of the newbie section.

As for you earlier question abotu P4 and VIA - i hoep you have done some reading and understand what the difference is now.

fair enough sorry if i sounded rude, i just wasnt sure as you gave a certain impression.

some epias also have firewire which i recommend you use for DVD drives mounted remotely due to the higher sustained transfer rate. Firewire devices can be daisy chained directly (unlike USB which needs hubs) but i have never done that.

Epia M10000's have 2 USB posrts on the back panel and a USB connector on the mobo for 2 additional ports. All are USB2. As Scouse says, hooking up a hub will expand it further.
