    1. The wire going from the battery - (negative) (black) to the vehicle chassis is already done, so you don't have to worry about that.

    2. Now go to a car audio store and buy some amplifier power wire (preferably red) and an inline fuse for it. You also need to buy a connector that BOLTS down to the battery. Why not bring your inverter? If they have a knowledgeable staff they should be able to do the math and give you the right fuse and wire for your inverter...I can't really tell you because I don't know how many watts it is, anyway, buy some 8 guage wire, or maybe 4 gauge if you have a really power hungry inverter. You need to buy enough to run ONE wire from your battery to whereever you mount the inverter PLUS A FEW EXTRA FEET! You'll be glad you bought a few extra feet because you'll use it...

    (a) Cut a short piece of wire and strip both ends. Connect one end to the Battery Connector. Connect the other end to one side of the inline fuse. Strip an end of the remaining wire and connect it to the other side of the inline fuse. Now you must drill a hole through your firewall (if you do this you must use a rubber gromet so you don't ruin the wire and seal the hole as well), or find another way to run the wire into the cabin of your vehicle SAFELY! String the end without the battery connector into the vehicle to where you want to put your power inverter. Be cautious of where you run the wire in the engine compartment. HOT WIRE = BAD. After you are done running that wire, cut off any excess, then strip the end, and connect it to the invertor + (positive)(red)(note: this may require additional connectors).

    (b) Wait until you have completed step 3. Secure the wire in place with vinyl quick-ties. Then connect the battery connector end of this wire to the battery.

    3. You also need to buy some of the same size and grade wire in a different color (preferably black) this wire needs to be long enough to connect your inverter securely to the chassis of your car.

    (a) Attach one end of this to the - (negative)(black) terminal on your power invertor, connect the other end (bolt it down) to BARE Metal on your car's chassis. There can not be any rust or paint or it will not have a good connection. (Again, this may require additional connectors.

To make it easier you can plug the inverter straight into the cigaretter lighter.

    OMG NO!

    THIS IS BAD ADVICE
AND CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE IN YOUR WIRING LOOM

Low current devices are fine. SOmetimes even up to 20A. I would say 150W max on most lighter sockets. I have a 300W inverter with a lighter socket but I would never run it for a long time. The wiring on your socket is not going to be able to take a sustained hight current as well as a dedicated known gauge cable.

You also do not know if there are any dry joints.

A fire in your dash loom will destroy your car!
