    Okay. I give up! I disassembled my carputer yesterday. Insulated anything that I though might give me grounding problems and put it back together. I also rewired it with better and cleaner wires. Hooked it up to the 60 watt brick and it booted right up. Was very happy! So I put it through several back to back shutdown and startups and it worked everytime. Then left it on for a couple of hours to download some music from my server. Shut it down to take it to the car but remembered that I had forgotten one song so I tried to boot it back up....but it did not work this time. It was just like before, lights and fan came on but it did not boot. Left it off for a couple of hours, tried again, and it booted right up!

    Looks like the PC does not want to boot up properly right after it has been on for a few hours and is warm. When it cools down, it has no problems. And I don't think it is the actual heat that is affecting it because I put it in my car, parked under the sun and the carputer box really got hot but had no problems booting. Then after it ran for a while, it did not want to boot again until it was off for a while.

    Just curious, does it ever give you any problems booting up when you hook it up to your vehicle or just in the house?

    Are us using morex 230V to 12V converter with M1 PSU?
    I got exacly the same problem as you. I houd out that Morex AC-Dc converter doeas not give inuff Power. So when I striped my Epia for all extra tuff it works fine, but when I put mye USB kayborad, tuchscree, mouse, bluetooth, TV card. The epia won't boot.

    Malebuffy,
    I don't have another PSU but I am getting one this weekend to try with. I too think that this maybe power supply issue but a few in the other forum with similar problem have solved it by updating the bios. I am afraid of touching the bios as I may kill the board while doing that. So I will try the PSU first and if it does not work, I will update the bios.

    Cocoman,
    The problem is happens it both places but is more evident in the car as I use it more often there.

    Goose,
    Yes, at home I use the Morex brick and in the car is connected directly to the battery.

    The thing that gets me is the carputer always boots just fine when it has been off for a few hours while at work or over night. But if I turn it off for a short time, say one hour, and try it back on, it will not boot. Then I have to push the restart button a few times then it boots. Has no problem if I restart but if I turn it off it may not boot again on its own.

    I have a similar problem. I have an epia v & m1-atx.

    The problem usually occurs when I have left the comp off for a while (about an hour or so). Hd spins up, fan comes on, but never hear the beep for the bios load. All I do is short the power switch for 4 sec. (shutsdown) & then power it up and it works everytime after that until I leave it alone again.

    But it is intermittent because sometimes it will boot right up.

    It works every time with a regular psu as far as I have tried. I am not using a metal case and I don't think grounding is a problem.

    I don't see how it could be lack of power to mb when it works perfect every time after. Unless something specific happens to m1 after an hour or so (like hardoff). Maybe once it goes into hardoff mode it no longer has the juice to load mb quick enough. Hmmm.....

    Zebelkhan, did you do the auto-power on mod to your lilly by any chance. That was the last thing I did before this started happening and I am somewhat suspicious. But not the coyte mod, just keeping the power button held down(shorted)?

    This is just as tough as solving the keyless entry interferance riddle.
    Mobo= Epia V
    Ram= 640mb
    Ps= m1-atx
    Screen= Lilly 7" ts
    Hd= 40gig
    case= 1/10 scale model of my car (04 Saturn Ion QC)
    soundcard= soundblaster mp3+

    If you're running out of ideas, try replacing the CMOS battery. It may be dying on you.

    I have that mod. I have wrapped tape around the button for auto turn-on. I did that before switching to M1. You think that may have something to do with it? I can unplug my lilliput to see if that makes a difference.

    I guess if you have the same EXACT problem (sounds identical) then odds of having a bad CMOS battery are very low. But I will consider replacing it if all else fails.

    I got a new PSU but no time to test the PC with it this weekend. I will post results as soon as I do it.

    I would hook up a different monitor for a while and see if it happens again. It would be a simple test and could be the root of the problem. I would do it myself but something has happened to my carputer. For some reason it will not turn on at all. Nothing, Zip, Nadda.

    I have not had time to work on it yet, I'm just hoping I didn't fry my m1-atx. If I get it working again, I will continue to work on this problem, that is if it is still happening.

    I get a very strong feeling that if your system is getting enough current(which appears to be the case based on what you said) then your problem seems to be with the motherboard.

    Several years ago(when the Athlons first came out), i had a gigabyte motherboard which randomly shutdown then refused to turn back on unless i left it unplugged for a long period of time. At first i thought it was due to heating but the system never really got too hot.

    It turned out to be something wrong with the motherboard. Not sure if your problem is the same or not. If your system is still under warranty explain to them your situation and take it in to get replaced or at least give you another motherboard to try(if they are out of state make sure you get an RMA number from the guys you purchased it from and send it back).
