have you tried reseting the cmos ? .. theres a jumper on the M/B, change it to to pins 1-2 (I think.. well if on 2-3 then 1-2 else 2-3). Then power the comp up.. nothing happens.. then swap the jumper back agan.. then poer up and hey'presto its working again.. I think you will find this will solve your problem !

I'm very new to this but, if you're still having problems, try what Menthol suggested above. It sounds like you've had this PC for a while now. I had an older PC in my home a few years ago that displayed a very similar behavior. After trying everything, I finally gave up and tried swapping out the only thing I hadn't already replaced, the CMOS battery. Crossed my fingers, hit the power button, and it worked. I know car PCs aren't exactly the same, but they're close enough that it may just work. Plus, you'd only be out about $5.00 for the battery.

My PC is about 2 years old. I suppose that is old enough given the extreme temprature variance inside a car. My five year old home PC does not have any problems though. I have the battery replacement on my list of things to do. I have spent so much time on this project away from my family that my wife has forbid me from going to the garage and working on the car.....

Had no idea I was wanted...

    I'm having this same problem.

I've tried a new battery, reset the cmos, checked the ram, tried a new power supply - nothing seems to work.

I've booted without the ram - same result.

The only thing I've found that SORTA works is booting without the HD connected. Then the thing will actually beep and boot (until it needs the OS) but this only works SOMETIMES.

So anyone have any ideas? Could it just be that my car battery is dying and can't push the PC anymore? This seems unlikely to me, as the car starts fine.

    Thoughs?

    Update:

Well it's not my car battery, as I hooked the PC up to the AC/DC brick that came with the orginal power supply and it still didn't work. I disconnected everything from the motherboard that required power (drives, USB devices etc) and the ****** still won't boot consistantly.

I've reset my cmos several times. I really don't get it. If something were fried, I would think it just wouldn't work at all.

I've looked in to the grounding issue some, but I really don't see how something could be grounded out on the thing...
