Regarding the inverter wiring:
Just cut off the connector. Before you do though, mark positive and negative, or you will wind up with a blown fuse (nothing too bad, just saving a couple $). Crimp a loop connector on the negative wire, and ground it. Then for the positive, wire it into a positive lead. Use a butt connector, distrobution block, or whatever, just a fused, positive lead.
Regarding the startup/shutdown:
This is easy to do. Get an automotive relay. It will have five prongs. Connect terminals 30 and 87 (iirc) to the two power button pins on your computer's motherboard. Then use the button to power the relay. So when you push the button, the relay will connect the two power pins on the computer, and it will start. If you have an aftermarket alarm system, you can wire up the aux button on it to start your computer just as easily. Cost: $4 for the relay, and maybe some wire.
