    USB version question

    is USB 1.1 hardware based or software based? can 1.1 be upgraded to 2.0?

    hardware... usb 2.0 is many times faster than usb 1.1, so usb 1.1 hardware can't handle the data rates of 2.0... thats why usb 2.0 hubs, cables, and other hardware cost more.

    You need software (Service Pack 1) and hardware (controller) to have 2.0.
