Also what software was it that you were using? looked like a good layout for controlling everything.
    1) Those are support rods that serve a purpose and in my opinion look good. They are staying on. 2) MY BANK!!!!! account doesn't afford for me to start taking off parts that I planned for and spent good money on, just because a stranger doesn't like it or understand it.

To answer your question, I'm using Centrafuse as mentioned in post #1 of this thread.

    Gagaza,

That looks great man, job well done, like everyone else said, the fit and finish of everything is superb, and those doors are just awesome. I would venture a guess that you did a lot better job than they do on Pimp My Ride when they do those doors.

Anyway, keep it up and welcome to the forum, as you already noticed, there is a HUGE wealth of knowledge that you can tap into.

Look forward to seeing more of your work!

kirbycope, is the inverter a bad thing? Should I switch to a dc-dc power supply? I do have a concern about heat. I will be adding a big fan to exhaust the heat. Will there be enough of a heat reduction by changing my power configuration to warrant the change? Or should I just look at cooling solutions to address my concern. I wasn't sure what your comment implied, but It got me to thinking about the heat inside my case. Thanks in advance to anyone that shares useful input/opinion.

    Gagaza,

I know you asked for kirbycope's answer, but I will chime in and say that you HAVE to go to dc-dc. It is simply, a more efficient way to power your carpc. I would also recommend keeping the inverter so that you can hookup other devices while you are in the car, such as xbox, ps2, etc etc

The 2 big mass produced brand/models of dc-dc are Carnetix p1900 and Opus Solutions 75w and 150w

    Good luck.

Actually I was soliciting opinion from everyone that would care to comment. I just quoted kirby cuz he's the one that got me to start thinking about it and after reading bugbytes post on power supplies.

Thank you for you're response. I'm currently in full agreement with your opinion. I was thinking of keeping the inverter and placing it up near the front, maybe under the seat. I'de also plug in a powered usb hub, the monitor, and cd burner\dvd thats mounted in the glove box.

Would anyone else care to chime in. Is there any reason to not switch, aside from cost? Can I use 2 dc power supplies. One for the motherboard only. If I had known that there was such a thing as a dc-dc inverter I would have used one in the first place. I'm glad to have found this forum and am looking forward to some solid advice.

Edit: Looks like I'll have to use inverter due to 150w dc limitation. My system requires more. I'll have to come up with a good cooling solution. Maybe a/c piped into the well, or something like that. Can I get some ideas please?

Can I please get input on my power configuration? Should I keep it as it is, or should I/ can I switch to dc-dc? Will an opus 150w be enough for my atx motheroard with an amd 2.8 ghz cpu. Do I need to give more specs to get feedback? Can I use another dc-dc power supply for my cdrw/dvd drive and hard drive. I've read and searched and am still in need of help.

Well, it looks like you're either stuck with the inverter or you have to split the system up among several power supplies.

I'd stick with the inverter, if it's working for you. Are you able to do auto startup/shutdown? If not, think about getting a DSSC from the online store.

With a car that sweet, you just gotta figure out how to incorporate the monitor directly in the dash. You've got absolutely everything else in there!

Bugbyte thank you so much for your input. You make great sense. I'll stick with the inverter. It works great as is. I haven't had any problem at all.

I'll just address the heat issue. I have some ideas for cooling. Plus I can remove the plexiglass during hot days. Would anyone care to share any ideas for cooling?

Also, I think I figured out how to fit the monitor into the dash. I just won't be able to get to it for awhile. I'll post pics when I getter done.

For cooling, I'd drill holes in the plexiglass and then use some temperature monitoring software on the PC. If it's a problem, then add a fan or two.

WizardPC experimented with cooling using his air conditioner and cutting a hole in the floor of the car to cool his PC. Here's a link: my ideas to combat heat
