Newbie needs help from someone who knows what the F they're doing

Hi there, I need a bit of help[ figuring out what I'm going to need to make all of this happen.

The system I'm planning on running is:

    Sempron 2200+ system
    Micro-ATX ECS 741-GX motherboard
    1 stick 512MB PC3200 DDR
    40GB WD 7200RPM HDD
    8X DVD+RW drive
    Windows XP installed
With one of these as a monitor.

What else am I going to need to make this work hardware-wise? I've been reading something about a shut down controller and about needing to get a new PSU. Is there something that can take care of this all at once. Like a PSU with a SD Controller built-in? ANd will it power my system?

Also, will the touchscreen eliminate the need for a mouse and computer totally?

Will the stock sound car be sufficent? I assume getting a soundblaster or something aftermarker would be preferred.

My brain is running a mile a minute trying to get all this information sorted in my head. I'm having a tough time writing coherent thoughts, lol. I know I have a ton of questions but I'm having a tough time gettin them down. So if anyone wants to add soemthing and give me a hand just getting what I need hardware-wise, down...it would be appreciated.

Check out the OPUS PS or the M1-ATX PS. THey are both used for DC-DC and Shutdown.....

As for the screen.... I would tend to use the Xenarc or lilliput at this point. I don't know anything about that screen on ebay.....

As for TS vs. Mouse and I think you meant Keyboard(not computer).... It will still be nice to have one lying around just in case..... I keep mine handy. But they aren't connected all the time.

OK ONe thing at a time. HEHE

    1. PSU - an all in one solution? Sure. OPus 150w. Kick-*** DC-DC psu, super efficient, SDC, survives crank, battery protection, etc. Only prob, gotta keep it under 150w. SHouldn't be a problem.

    2. I am assuming you meant to ask if you could eliminate a mouse and KEYBOARD, alltogether? The answer is yes and no. YOu can use the TS as a mouse no prob, but a keyboard? You could use the OSK built into windows - Start>Programs>accessories>accessablility - but it's a PITA. Better to get one of the MiniKey USB Keyboards from MP3Car store. It's very nice and it's about the size of a post-it note, a little smaller.
    3. ONboard sound is preferred as long as its a good chip. Soundblaster would be better, but I say prefered because less power consumption for onbaord.
    4. Also Check out http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_sup...or.php?cmd=AMD
and use the calculator to keep under power requirements. You might be better off with an XP MObile CPU or something.
Its not the cards you're dealt, its how you play the hand!

What's this about DC-DC? Does it elimnate the need for an inverter? How do you draw power then? I feel like such an idiot but with time I'll get this all straightened out.

I have been reading up on the FAQ's and searching so please don't barrage me with demands to read them and use the search button.

ANy information/advice someone could give me will go a long way in helping me figure all this out. Thanks

Dude, the DC-DC PSU is a waaaaay more efficient way to make power. Inverters are terrible inefficient. Which means they waste tons of power. The opus is incredible. Simply wiring, small relatively. Run 3 simple wires and bang. YOu got power. It's the best way to go far and away although you could theretically make more power w/ an inverter setup its sloppy power and it's not nearly as reliable or clean

    Also with a 90W opus...
You can auto power your xenarc/lilliput as well as a few other external items like a USB hub with clean regulated power.
