so you dont want a car-puter?
Hi, folks,
I'm new, and I don't even know enough to ask a proper question.I just bought a new Dodge truck and the first thing I want to do is install an aftermarket audio/video/navigation system. I really want the best I can possibly afford, so if you have recommendations, advice, warnings, whatever, please let me know. I'll try to understand.

I'm willing to learn, and I'm not ignorant about regular computers, so fill me in, at least with the most simple 'puter/GPS,Originally Posted by Rundell

with a computer you can have gps, obdII(dyno), all the music you like in one place, you can go online and check your email while you in the driveway waiting for someone if you have wireless internet, Or anywhere there might be wireless internet. You can shut you friend/girlfriend/wife up with a movie (even though thats illegal)....a computer is the cheapest, most efficiant way to do any of that and you can access it all in one single place. mostly people have touchscreens so you dont really need a mouse or keyboard unless your still tweaking with it... Its really neat, check out the "show off your project" area and see what people have goin on.
Sounds like fun, I'll check it out.Originally Posted by Escalade182
You may also want to check out the mp3car store for pre-built car computer systems. That is if you don't want to build it yourself

If you dont' wan't a car pc, I would suggest you look into a pioneer Avic N 2 unit. Very nice for the things you listed. Now, if you wanna go the Car pC route, this is the right forum for you. You can surf gay porn, listen to all your copywright infringed music and use GPS to find your way from one end of the driveway to the other![]()
