    Question XP Install Problems !

    Hey,

First of all - thanks for this great site, hope i can use it in the future.

    Now to the problem:
I bought a EPIA M10000n Board, and installed it with a 80gb Seagate IDE 3.5" disk. I also installed a CD-ROM drive (not slim, for test purposes) and hooked up my normal LCD panel and mouse + keyboard.

Then i booted up on my Xp Professional cd-rom, started installing XP, formatted the disk and got into the more nicer looking xp-install-progess program. The one with the nice "advices" on the right, and a installbar on the left.

Right about 35mins left, and it saying: "installing devices" the installer hangs and pops up a screen saying:

The file "VIAAGP.SYS" is needed by the Windows File Cabinet. Please... blabla!

What the hell ? how do i get this thing away. I never seen that before. Im using a Windows XP Professional (not sp2) install disk.

I just figured out what the hell was wrong! I just took another CD-ROM drive, and exchanged the other one... Using the same CD-ROM it suddenly worked! Well, thanks atleast for getting me to think non-standard ;-)

Anytime a driver is needed in the windows setup just hit cancel. After installing XP you always go get the lastest drivers anyways, right?

    Nope... no always.
I have people that have machines from overseas and belive me NO WAY TO GET THE RIGHT DRIVERS!! so you have to work with the generic ones from MS.
