Just A Quick Question

Just have a quick question for the members here. I am still new at all of this, but I am glad I found this site, gives me something to do in my time (read). Anyways, I tried searching with no luck, here is my question:

I have a Kenwood KVT-715 7" Flip-up screen on the head unit. Now can I use it as the screen for a carputer with touchscreen (the monitor is already touch screen)?

Yeah, any name-brand screen (Kenwood, Pioneer, Panasonic, Alpine) won't interface with a computer without knowing a lot about electronics and ripping the thing to shreds in the process..

yeah, that would solve all of our problems with fm if it were possible but sorry it isn't. welcome to the forum and good luck on your project!

Okay, it is theoretically possible but you'll have to hack open your beautiful KCT-715 and figure out how to tap into the touchscreen wires.

Also, the screen on the Kenwood isn't VGA. You'd probably be disappointed with the results.

just use a motorized vga screen

a few more models are coming to the market, and their prices are reasonnable

take a look at digitalww.com's products and mp3car (here) store has some too

it would be cool to find a h/u with a brocken screen and try to interface a xenarc or lillli into it

Simple solution, put touchscreen film availible at digitalww over your screen and if it has an input use that from the output on your carputer. The quality will suck.

Thanks for all the help guys, I wouldn't figure it would be possible, but had to ask. Since I just got this screen I will just keep it for awhile until I am ready to put an indash one with a puter..
