I would like opinions on usb 2.0 capture cards

I've decided to use my notebook pc as the basis for my Car PC, and i would like to purchase a USB 2.0 video capture card for possible rearview camera or gamecube/xbox/ps2 input. I currently have a device from www.snazzishop.com called "Pocket PVR" or something like that. The device has bad software, bad image quality, and is cheaply made. I would like to get a device with composite and svideo, tv tuner would be a bonus, if external power is needed, that is fine. If anyone has one with good video quality please tell me what model it is, and maybe email me a little sample video at ffiarpg-at-gmail-dot-com if you can spare the time. Thanks.

Check out the WinTV-PVR-USB2 from Hauppauge. I don't have personal experience with it, but I use Snapstream's Beyond TV software in my PVR, and on their board I've read good things about this one.

Hauppauge has great software support, and I have a couple of their PCI capture cards and they work great.

Here's a review for the WinTV-PVR-USB2 Zogg mentioned

I dont have any experience with any USB capture device either, however I have had great experience with the PVR-150MCE (PCI capture) which includes composite, svid, and the coax input...just dont purchase from their website, as their prices are a bit inflated

For software concerns, BeyondTV is excellent, as well as SageTV

Thank you for the replies, its unfortunate in the review, he takes sample shots, but all he does is say how bad they look in comparison to 3rd party applications, I wonder why he didn't include any screens from those.

I have seen some good reviews for the ATi USB 2.0 TV tuner. I would look into that too.

I have an AverMedia EZ Maker USB 2.0 video capture device. I've used it alot to record movies off my TIVO. The quality is very good, but it's mostly for recording not viewing, although, I've used it for viewing live sources like testing my backup time and it works great.
