    Dvd Rom Power

    Hi,
I have a Compaq slimline dvd rom that is in my glovebox. However, the power cord that come out of it plugs into the wall. I need to hardwire this into the car. So I cut the wall socket off the end, but I can't seem to find power anywhere in the car. HELP!!! Where do I hook this thing up?

Oh, this is the right thread...ok. Slim optical drives require regulated 5V which you can get from the PSU.

I have my screen hooked up to the molex, but I don't think I know where to get the 5v power. Please be more specific. Thanks.

    molex =

    +5v
    gnd
    gnd
    +12v

I think the +5 is red, and the the +12 is yellow... so just tap into the other one from your screen (assuming the screen is 12v)

how do I know which line coming out of the slim line DVD is pos. or neg.? Will it say on the cord? And what if I run it into the 12v. Is that going to damage the DVD Rom? Thanks.

    Slimline DVD power

Have a compaq slimline DVD...USB and a power cord. I cut the wall plug in outlet that comes out of the DVD and wish to tap into power into the car. Where do I get the power? Some say the 5v molex is fine. However, after I cut the end I don't really know which side is positive or negative. Can anyone help me. When explaining pretend you are talking to a child!
