    newbie parts for carpc

    Hello people,
I am very new to this whole thing.
I had the idea for a car computer a couple of days ago
    and found your site.

I'm very new to this so im trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible
before I even consider trying anything. Any of your wise information will be greately appreciated.

I have a couple of questions:
When you build a computer in your car you have to worry about the worst conditions possible. I'm curious about the following:
Temperature and weather conditions. How do they affect computer parts?
humidity? extreme heat, extreme cold? etc...

    Road conditions?
    bumps? potholes? steep turns?

How do I plan for these things?
Hard drives have a tendency to go at the slightest sign of problems?
would u guys suggest a hard drive or a compact flash drive?

thanks a lot in advance for any help you can provide....

oooh also that meet in new rochell... can anyone give me the particulars as I would be honored to attend.... Thank you soooo mcuh..

All of the questions you have asked have been answered many times. Read up on the FAQ Emporium, it has alot of information there.

as for you questions, weather does affect you car pc very much. In the winter time some hard drives are not able to spin up to load up windows. Most people recommend using a laptop hard drive since they are better designed to take more abuse, but many people including me use a regular hard drive and haven't had any problems.

btw: you should really attend the meet you will get some great ideas and people will be able to help you better. Heres the link to the meet thread.
