what car are you running? this helps with the radio issue
if you have a spare laptop, i suggest using that as a guide first. they are (arguably) cheaper to configure since the parts are already combined.
also, if you have a spare computer around, try putting a system together and run it in your car
like you said, you just want something to try out, and why pay for something you might not enjoy?

You won't be able to do all of that with a cheap setup. Your best bet would be to go with a shuttle box with an Opus power supply, but it's not cheap. There are other options that are cheaper, but look non-good. There are options that look better, even stock, but they're not cheap at all.
