A VGA controller for a CRT is a completely different animal from a VGA controller for an LCD.
As for the slimline adaptor, yes that is what you need.
Hello all...I am about to take on my carputer project but I would like a few things clarified, if you all could, please. My uncle built my desktop a few years ago and it has since gone haywire. The damn HDD has failed twice and now I can't even get it to boot. I can remember the exact reason because it's been a few months since I'd even looked at it, but whenever I tried to start the computer, it would get to the Windows scrollbar, it would restart itself. It'd does this over and over. Anyway, I needed a laptop for school so I bought one. I was thinking of putting a carputer in (for practical purposes...and cuz it'd be one thing I could say I did before I died) and I was about to buy the parts the other day, when I looked in my corner and saw my old desktop...It's a tad big but I could fabricate a box from Aluminum with a few heat sinks and use the parts. I know I'm going to go the 2.5" HDD route with an IDE Converter and a slim line dvd-rom (I'm thinking of putting it in my center armrest, and relocating the USELESS cup holder). I will need a slimline CD to Desktop IDE Adapter (http://digitalww.com/SLIM-IDE.htm) as well, correct? And I've searched this forum up and down and can't find the answer to my next question...has anyone ever used the VGA controller from a CRT monitor and used it to build a screen vga screen? Would it be too big? Or would it just make more sense to just buy a vga screen? I was looking at the Innovatek, which is exactly (and I mean EXACTLY) the same as the Lilliput VGA with different badging. BTW, I have a 94 Acura Legend Sedan. Sorry for being a post-whore
Thanks for your time. I'll try to post pics of what my ideas would look like.
