Any comments at all is welcome![]()
ok, ive been reeding alot in this forum and im addicted ;p
but finally im gonna order! Based on my 1 year of reading here and former experiences.
I live in Sweden so i try to order the most parts "localy"
thinking of Warranty, support and other known issues.
..Well here is my Hardware..
#Gonna order this stuff from mp3car.com#
Ampie Car Computer Case
M1-ATX 90 Watt - Smart Automotive Power Supply
Pioneer Slot Load DVD±R/+R DL/±RW Dual Drive 8X
Xenarc 700TSV - VGA Monitor with touchscreen and video inputs
#Gonna order at home#
Via C3 CPU 1300MHz Mini-ITX,DDR400,VGA,Tv-Out, Firewire
Crucial PC2100 DDR-DIMM 512MB CL2.5. Non-parity, 2.5V, 64Meg x 64
Kingston Datatraveler Elite 1024MB USB2. 13MB/23MB per sec. i write/read
#Power#
The M1-ATX 90 Watt should be sufficient my second opinion was an opus at 120 w. But the Ampie was sooo Beautiful![]()
#Where is the Harddrive#
A high speed 1024 MB USB 2.0 stick for my modified windows Xp And it had to be at least a 1024 mb when im gonna use hibernation 512mb goes right there. Less power drain, almost as effective as an hd. and no worries about a hd crash!
#RW Feature#
I know the Slim DvD writer doesn`t fit the ampie case. so gonna drill a hole or something and have it outside the case mounted near the tft screen.
Got millions of ideas!
!Rear gear in=rear camera in fullscreen on the screen.
Panik button press= A big flashing sign on the tft screen
serial/usb controlled Relay/Input/output card. that detects a open door and a wave voice could say Front Passanger dor opened.
Dont know much about GPS, how it works yes but if the system is same in the US and sweden?
and the Xenarc screen comatible with a playstation maybe
Well have i missed something, power is not sudfficient? Something doesnt match? Comment or tips is very welcome![]()
What HDD are you gonna use. If you go for a 3.5" I would be tempted to go with the Opus as if anything does go wrong it is a long way to send it back!
The xenarc is fine for the PS2 - just connect it up to the RCAs.
Oh hang on i just read that you don't want a HDD - but what are you gonna do for music?????
Also, I would consider a 2Gb flash drive for the OS just in case you need more for extra prgorams later on.
Well im gonna use a usb stick is way faster then flash drive double speed actually.
your right a 2048 mb may be a much better solution.
My plan is to have all my mp3s and videos on a DVD RW
Thx for the great tipp =)
urgh i would not bother will your music on a DVD-RW. Not enough room!!! i would at least go with a small laptop HDD - that will run off 5V giving you enough power to run your screen on the PSU.
I would so not advise keeping all your data ont he DVD as it will have to be on all the time. I suspect there is more risk of an optical drive failing than a HDD as the discs have a mush greater angular momentum. Drives playing CDs don't spin very quick but for mp3s and video it will spin up to a high speed and grab a stack of data and then spin down.
It could be fine and I have considered it but be prepared to switch to a HDD eventually.
Also are programs going to be writing to the DVD when moving? or is it just for ROM when moving?
Also, flash memory has a finite number of write cycles. Running an OS from one without setting it up as read only will eat into the number of write cycles very quickly. Look how often the HDD light on your PC flashes!!!
ok, your right! =)
how about-->
"TwinMOS Compact Flash Card 2048MB, 70X Type I, Ultra High Speed! 70X"
And a "Prestico Card Master" adapter for CF.
and a usb connected 2.5 laptop harddrive.
Or just the harddrive.
No im not gonna burn dvd:s while in movement. just a DVD reader might be good enought hmm
Hitachi Travelstar 80GB 7200RPM IDE ATA/100 2,5" 9,5mm 7K100
it is!!![]()
Good choice.![]()
Spent so far: $1,755

It's not nice to pick on retards!
Thats better. but ditch the USB and attach it permanantly. you are never gonna remove it. to add new tunes use CDRWs/DVDRWs or a pendrive or wireless. USB will give you unessarcary (cant spell - tired) troubles.
