<<< noob questions about carputers and building one

Okay i was looking around and reading for several hours and i still dont understand some things that i need to know before i take on this project.

first of all i have a old pos celeron 600 mhz that i plan on using as my carputer.
It should be good enough for my needs (video, mp3, maybe wireless g)

From my understanding, it is best to purchase a power supply for the lcd touchscreen and the computer that is made for the car because it will increase the longevity of the screen.

So i think im planning on getting the Xenarc 700TSV b/c i read the lilliput has more problems (correct me if im wrong)

So my question is what exact power supply would i use for the computer and how to hook it up (or is it simple?)

Secondly what do i need to get to hook up the monitor to the computer so that the monitor turns on w/ the computer and turns off w/ the computer as well. i know there are parts you could get or you could wire it so you dont have to purchase anything. could you tell me what options there are?

thanks in advance and sorry if im such a noob

    Welcome.

The first thing you should do is read the FAQ section here.
Most, if not all of your questions are answered there.

If you still have questions, then and . If you can't get the answers that way, then Post, and your questions shall be answered.

As for the screen, I believe it is only the lilliput that has issues/requires modification to get it to turn on automatically, but I am sure a search will help you with that as well.

Have you read the FAQ on "Power supplies explained"? If not, that should help answer your question. If so and you are still confused, let us know.

BTW - the Xenarc turns on and off automatically with your power. You can hook it up to your power supply if you want.

To figure out what the proper power supply is for your computer, you need to figure out how many watts it will draw. The links to figure this out are in the power supplies FAQ.
