    Door Chimes

Apparently if I replace my Stock HU I lose things like door chimes, is there a way I can route these through the carPC simply?

My understanding is I could get those switches that detect the electric pulse/whatever and figure out how to make a program that would then play a door chime through my speakers when I open my doors. I guess the hard part would in that case be making the program and finding the wire that sends the pulse when they are open?

    Does that sound about right?

Yes...but why do you care about the door chime?
Plus the dome lamp will tell if a door isn't latched.

I just want things to be simple and well work like they are supposed to.

However my new plan is to try and just install the stock HU out of sight out of mind, I just need to figure out how to tap a AUX in into the HU (I dont need it hooked to the antenna *see below* so maybe I can do something with that) and then run the carPC into that stick it somewhere always on the input.

From there I will get another HU (which I had to get anyway) that is small (mine is double din) and can run that as a line in into the computer (need to hook this up to the antenna) purely for GOOD quality AM/FM radio.

How does that all sound? lol
