Does anyone know where (online) I could purchase a large sheet of 1/2" to 3/4" thick lexan poly carbonate. Before you ask, I need the thickness not for a computer box for for a car body panel. Thanks

Are Lexan and plexiglass the same thing? I know Home Depot carries 1/4 and 3/4 plexiglass. I thought Lexan was some kind of ultra strength plastic that was different from plexiglass.
No...I think people use plexiglass like they do kleenex and q-tip instead of "facial tissue" and "cotton swab." The brand Plexiglas is actually polymethyl methacrylate but Lexan is different. Its polycarbonate, the same stuff the "expensive lightweight glasses at Pearl Vision Center" are made of. You can get this at Home Depot, but I couldn't find it on their online store.
They sell a crap load of this stuff on Ebay. A google search brings up a ton of online retailers also.
You're right, they are different: I believe that Lexan is a trademarked name and plexiglass is more generic, and I know that lexan is stronger.Originally Posted by Bugbyte
You can buy it at www.mcmaster.com, just search for lexan. The prices aren't excellent there but their customer service (from my experience) is excellent. I ordered a part one Monday evening and had it in my mailbox Wednesday afternoon.
