Take it to the dealer.
Hi,
I am not sure where to ask this question, but hope you can help me out here or redirect me to the right place. My SRS light is on.
I have Honda Civic 2000 Ex. When checking my CHECK ENGINE light codes, I had to short circuit a special connector as was desribed in the manual and suggested by people. Connector is behind ECU, and ABS unit is on top of ECU. Somewhere in between removing ECU to get to connector, reading the codes and reconnecting battery to reset CHECK ENGINE light, SRS Light came on.
Now, I don't know how to reset it or check what it means, so I need your advice.
Thank you
Take it to the dealer.

I dont think this is the right forum for you... SRS systems are to do with your airbag safety circuits and should not be messed with unless you REALLY know what you are doing (unless you want to discover how painful friction burns to the face are).
The dealership is the only place that can reset a SRS light. If somethings wrong with the system the light is just going to come back on. Hopefully you didnt mess anything up cause it prolly wont be a cheap fix.

Try this..it will reset it...
How to reset your SRS light on your civic. This works for 99-00 Civic's as well as 2k1's. What is pictured is actually a 2k1 but the plug for the 99-00's are in the fuse box also, just on the other side of the column.
1st you need to either buy or make the "SCS Service Connector" #07PAZ-0010100 from http://www.Hparts.com for about $4.00. I used a speaker harness for and older Honda which you can buy at a local stereo shop such as Circuit City or Best Buy, and cut the wires and looped them together. You can also use a paperclip but that will make it a little more difficult because you have to connect it and disconnect it a few times quickly.
2nd you need to find the MES (Memory Erase Signal) connector.
It is a yellow connector with two wires in it that is plugged into the fuse box, unplug it and pull it down. Once you have done that you can begin the process of erasing the memory. NOTE: This will only reset your SRS System if what caused it to trigger has been fixed, Ex: turning the ignition on with any SRS Plugs disconnected, such as pulling your seat out.
1st step in erasing the memory is to turn the ignition off and connect the SCS Service connector to the MES Plug,
2nd Turn Ignition on. SRS indicator light will come on for about 6 seconds then go off.
3rd Disconnect SCS service connector for MES connector within 4 seconds after SRS indicator light goes off. SRS indicator light will come on again.
4th Reconnect SCS service connector the MES connector within 4 seconds after SRS light comes on. SRS indicator light will go off.
5th Disconnect SCS service connector from MES connector within 4 seconds. SRS indicator light will indicate that memory is erased by blinking 2 times.
6th Turn ignition off, and wait 10 seconds. Start vehicle like normal and light should come on and go out like normal. You have reset your SRS light, congrats.
If it does not work the first time try it again, the timing has to be perfect. My first time it took me 3 attempts before it worked, but it did work.
I've done that sucessfully many times with a toggle switch.... works better than the factory jumper... easier to time right....

I just got my car back from Acura for the same reason, and not only was the SRS light on, but my HORN, (and the all important steering wheel volume controls) were not functioning. It turns out there was a short circuit in the steering wheel column. The entire repair was paid for by the dealership, take it in and see what they say. If they try to charge you, you can try to blame it on something they might have accidentally done during a previous repair to your car (if they fixed something in that area...) That stuff should be under Honda's warrantee thoOriginally Posted by kofeyok

mine would go on everytime i'd pull the airbag fuse when taking apart the dash (didnt want my head taken off). i used the MES approach, there are several tutorials on the internet. I didnt get it right the first time, but i believe i did the second.....im just not very coordinated. I used speaker wire as well instead of buying some peice (which was not even mentioned in the tutorial i read).

My work log
I just installed my system yesterday and the SRS light came on. (Red light that says "SRS" on cluster). I had disconnected my battery and removed the passenger side seat under which I installed my computer. I rechecked all connections and the fuse and all seems to be in tact. I'm sure that if I take it to the dealer and he sees a blue amp like looking thing under my seat he will blame it on that and charge me an arm and a leg to reset the light. My guess is that it came on because while the seat was out, I started the car a few times to check my computer.
I saw the procedure for the Civic
Anything for the 2002 accord? Anyone have a diagram for the reset dongle/switche that they would like to share?
BTW, the system sounds great, Im runnig it through a temporary FM modulator while Im waiting for the Aux input adapter to arive for my Honda head unit. Fiberglass is hardening on my box for the LCD.
Thanks,
David
you just need it reset, there's an airbag in the seat, unplugged w/ign on set the code.....
