    Arrow DIY laptop stand

hey guys, its my first post here and certainly wont be the last.
i am new to the whole carputer scene, but have been ocasionally browsing this board for a few months now.
i recently just bought a sony vaio laptop, and watned to put it in my 98 blazer.
my main uses for this laptop in my car are:
-hook it to up to my head unit by usingi the AUX and playing mp3's that way
    -watching dvds
-hooking up xbox, or soon, xbox 360, by using the svideo output on my laptop
-using microsoft's streets and trips gps system.
so those are my basic needs for this project.
however, i do need to build a custom laptop stand and i dont feel like paying 250 bucks for some cheap, lamp looking thing that is just ugly.
    so, can you guys help?
i'd like to avoid putting more bolts in my frame, so i assume just use the exsisting two bolts in the front of my passenger side seat.
any help would be much appreciated.

thanks and i look forward to learning about the carputer scene, and making a contribution to this board.

How do you plan on hooking up a xbox to you laptop's svideo output? You would need an input.

I assume when you talk about the "cheap, lamp looking thing that is just ugly" that you're talking about the JottoDesk. You could make one yourself if you took dimensions and fabricated all the parts. Then you could take the parts to a welder and see how much he would charge to weld it all together. I think they usually charge around $25/hour. The hard part would be making it look non-ghetto. Having a professional to powder-coat it would be the best looking option (probably expensive though). I have heard of ways you can powder-coat things in a home oven. *I take no responsibility if toxic fumes kill you though*

No , that's video out. You can't plug anything in that to view it on the laptop. You can, however connect the laptop to a TV and be able to see the laptop display on the TV.

I don't know where you heard about people playing Xbox on their laptoip display, but they're likely blowing sunshine up your ***.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

you'll have to buy a usb capture card if you want to watched xbox or xbox 360 on your laptop screen.
