Searching for the right Front End

Ok. I did a search for front end software for my new carputer. Searching the forums for software sucks because there are so many posts under software category. Someone should make a website where you can put in your car make/model, what hardware you have, and what options you are looking for and then suggest a front end and a possible skin if it exists. That would save alot of time since there are so many and I don't have time to install each one to see if I like it.

So here's what I got. Suggest me a front end and a skin please!

    '03 Hyundai Elantra
    7" Xenarc touchscreen
Carputer w/ VIA MII 12k, 1GB Ram, 40GB HDD, WinXP Pro, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi
Pioneer 7600 Headunit w/ RCA input for Aux (connected to output of computer.)
Dual 12" subs with Rockford Amp

I want to play MP3's, Video's (mpeg4 and such), Run Delorme Street Atlas 2006 as my GPS, and be able to exit out to the desktop for internet access. I'm looking for something simple. Simple to install, simple to run, simple to close or exit out of... but should have a polished look.

I don't need an FM, XM, or any other extra buttons. I don't believe in having the button unless I have the equipment to go along with it.

    Thanks for your suggestions,

I hate to tell you this but it doesnt work like that. Most front ends have options for most things- the only hardware dependant parts are for addons people cobble together themselves, all the mainstream hardware is usually catered for by all of them - its a case of suck it and see, not the answer you want but thats the truth.

Try roadrunner to begin, mainly because it has many options and guino (the author) never sleeps so its updated more than regularly. Other people like centrafuse (it wouldnt embed my gps s/w) and theres some others you might want to try if RR isnt your cup of tea.

You got it... I'm being lazy here! Maybe I'll just stick with Windows. I work like a 70-80 hour work week and I get 1 day off every other week. I'm not going to sleep less just so I can play with software.

Oh BTW, Thanks for the suggestion Mad_Ad. I'll try RR.

You do realize that every popular frontend software has most of the same capabilitites as the others, so for every query, the website would return the same choices every time.
Granted, that would be an easy page to code... Maybe I'll get on it.

Your laziness and willing to try things for yourself apalls me.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

And the reason why this is under the newbie forum is because I've never done this before. I don't even know anyone around here that has though about doing this. I'm feeling my way around and, with maybe the help of you guys, I'm gonna find the right stuff for me. I think I have most of what I need though thanks to suggestions. Thanks for helping me not to waste my time!
