it's all been covered dude.
Hi, this project seems an absolutely brilliant idea and a huge chance to learn more about cars. I am 17 and still having lessons, but I am extremely into cars as I am doing more lessons and hope to pass soon.
I have messed around with computers a good while now, and have no problem on that side of it.
I am worried about the wiring, im not the kind of person to give up. I have been trying to find more information on car speaker wiring to no amend. If the speakers in the car weren't hooked up to the computer then it would be pointless. How hard is it to wire the speakers? common sense tells me that there will be power and data cables, the power i dont need to touch, but the data has to go into the computer and connect. What do the data cables look like? are there just two cables? If there was say 7 speakers in the car, would i need a 7.1 sound card?
Do the data cables look like the coaxial cables you find on an xbox, ps2, dvd player or what not?
Im looking for pictures or a pictured guide, i am not sure if the actual data cables would be connected to the fuse box or something?
I really have no clue about the speakers, i doubt they are coaxial, what do they look like, do you need any special kit to connect the speakers? like a conveter of some kind to plug into the computer?
You know, a very detailed guide would be awesome. I'll write one up on my next install.
Volvo V40 Phase 2 2002. T4 turbo upgrade.... currently no mp3 or carputer..... researching options
I have found a picture of the data cable, which makes it a lot easier to understand.
How ever I am quite confused, will there be EITHER RCA inputs and a S-Video look-a-line or just one, either RCA or the latter?
I am guessing, its not going to be a plug in the back affair, is there some kind of converter you need?
This is pretty ridiculous. Go away until you've read every post on this forum.
I shall keep my cool here, I am researching and I am actually looking through the forums and googling like theres no tommorow.
I am researching before hand to see what there is, if you got a problem with that I am sorry to hear about your instabillity and insecurity. Please if you feel nescessary, chat in PM rather than in the forum, I am sure the moderators would preffer that.
'your instabillity and insecurity.' Get a grip, spud suggested ways to help yourself.... you did not like or refused to heed the advice.... Grab your Spoon mate.Originally Posted by Mitz
Car Speakers do not use different cable for 'Data' and 'power'. The 2 conductor speaker wire carries the sound signal and a provides a ground.
Several options are discussed in detail to get the sound from the PC to the speakers, some involve an AMP (amplifier) other do not.
This is a forum full of answers if you are not able to help yourself find the information do not bother attempting to install a PC in your car.
If you had actually searched, you would have found your answers. We get this 'help the new member learn to walk' type of thread more than once a week. You are just the current example of a failure to read the existing information.
Part of the joy in creating this type of car & PC install is figuring it out. So 'Do or Do Not, there is no Try'.
