I have my touchscreen plug directly to my cigerette socket. as long as you have a fuse in there, you should be fine... been running for over 2 years without a problem.

isn't there something that I can put in place of te fuses?

Nothing that would perform the same function.
You want a fuse there so that in case of a power overload the fuse will blow and not your expensive equipment.

You could put a fire extinguisher there instead of the fuse.
