    help the newbie!

i need some help please. i've got a screen, driver board, and 12v PSU so i can hook up my xbox in my truck. don't really have the money for a carputer yet. heres the problem: it won't work. i hooked up the driver board, screen, and xbox pretty much straight to the battery before i was told about getting a 12v PSU. it worked for the 1 second i had it plugged in. satisfied that it worked, i set everything aside to work on mounting the screen inside the truck. couple days ago i get everything ready to install and go to test it again and i don't get an image on screen anymore. the LED on the brightness adjuster board (for lack of a better term) turns on green and i get a very faint flash of light from the screen like it almost turned on. if i hit one of the buttons on the board it'll flash the LED red and the screen will do the little flash too but nothing else. so i ask for help on another forum i'm on (a few electronics guys there). they tell me i should get a 12v PSU so i get one from this website's store (the CarNetix CNX-P1260). got it today and nothing's changed (except now i have a red LED and a fan from the PSU). i hope io covered everything. could someone please help me out with what might be wrong? i really hope i didn't fry something from having it connected to the battery for 1 second. now to what i have:

    Promate E3 driver board

    AU Optronics B104SN02 10.4" screen

    CarNetix CNX-P1260 12V DC-DC

and pictures from the ebay ad i got the screen and board from:

What kind of screen? Are all the cables hooked in right? My tview did that until i took it apart again and noticed a cable wasnt hooked back in properly last time I put it together.

The screens shouldn't be destroyed by direct car voltage. I think the manufacturers imagined alot of people would power their screens this way anyway. However, a PSU is the better way to go (screens live longer on a PSU)

I have teh exact same setup as slimm and i am also a newbie that browses and searches the forum alot for the solutions to my problems. By searching, you guys have been a great help, but now im in the same boat as slimm

i have not yet tried to hook mine up but now im afraid to make teh same mistake. i know they are rated at 12 volts + or- 10% so would that extra volt or two have fried it?

what would you guys suggest as the best way to hook up this board in order to not fry it?

also Slimm where did you hook your + and - into?
did you use the two prong white plug on the far left corner of all the video ins?
