require 10 posts before you can post in a different section?

    20? Maybe 30?

What do you think about the idea of mandating people have a post count of 10 before they can post in any forum besides the newbie forum? Post farming in the newbie thread is grounds for automatic banning?

It would help keep the newbie questions (which i seem to ask a few myself) out of the other forums.

Number of posts is not a good indication of newbie status. Some people just talk more than others.

So, if said newbie wanted to submit a bug report for a frontend or do something otherwise productive, they wouldn't be able to because their post would be assumed to be useless/repetitive?

It probably would be usless/repetitive. And im probably a noob still and i like to talk And Speaking of talking. My damn pc just crapped on me. i loaded delphi and rebooted to get nothing!!!!!!!!!! damnit. Using my laptop right now. I guess i could go out into my car and talk to you guys anyways now it running but with tons of popups. I hate windows!

This'll probably just encourage spam in the newbie forum by people who want to post elsewhere. Or conversely, it could make people who had something useful to say for their first post just not bother. My first post resulted in one of the longest threads in the input devices forum

If it were a perfect world, the newbie would ask a mix of questions and answer other newbie posts, and honestly 10 is not that bad. I'm just looking to avoid the "what do i need to power my PC?" or "How do i wire up an inverter?" in the power supply section by people with 1 post count.

Think of it as an introduction to he neighborhood. They will have a chance to see how much of an arse most of us are before taking offense =)

Nah we should just invent a newb sensing software that zaps them with a static charge and wipes thier memory free of stupid questions. But really the only stupid question is one never asked. only problem on here is the volume of posts. I remember searching through posts with information not conversation.
