relocate air in center to put a touchscreen in

hey. i was tearing apart my car yesterday, and i took out the climate control and theres a lot of room to put a big screen there... only problem is relocating the ac controls (don't fit anywhere else without a full refab) and redirecting the air ducts behind the vents to blow out of new vents. i could also just get rid of the vents period but hate to do that..

heres a pic of the dash:

and below you can see where i was going to put a screen (in the double din slot):

and here is how it looks with the ac controls in (from another car):

another thing, i know there is a climate control board that i can get and solder in my wires to get it controllable by my computer, but can i do this with the auto climate control? and is it relatively easy?

thanks. sorry for the lengthy post

i did that in my old car and made two slot vents on both sides of the screen and it worked great...

i would LIKE to go bigger than 7" plus its higher up and easier to read... and i can recess it in also to help block sunlight like in several newer cars i've seen.

haha F. i'm not going to get rid of it. i want to either control it with my computer or relocate it. how do i control it with my computer? i know theres that thing for 100 EUR that someone on the board sells. but how do i hook it up to the auto climate control... i'm not very educated with something of that sort..

i say cut the vents farther back. extend them to the lower part where the radio is facing up. put the ac controls underneath the vents in the lower part of the console. and you can use the whole upper part of the console for a screen and slot load drive!

yeah, you would have to just switch whats up there with whats down there if you must have the screen up top.... why is it such a big deal to put the climate controls down lower?

are you sure you don't want to just install it lower.... I think you have a much better shot of getting it to look right going that route, & way way way less work..unless your just a great fabricator that is
