    Question HeadUnits with Touchscreens

Has any used a headunit that contains a foldout touchscreen (Ecplise\Pioneer\Kenwood) with a carpc? I have a 03 DISCO (Land Rover Discovery) and don't have the space on my dash for a headunit and foldout monitor. The factory headunit is a littler larger than DIN.

So I was thinking I could use a highend Headunit with a touchscreen, as the touchscreen for a Carpc - Best of both worlds.

Is this a crazy idea or is this possible?

not going to happen...... I have the alpine d300 touch..... there is no way to interface with the touchscreen for the pc & all mm heads won't do vga, meaning you'll have to covert the pc video to regular composite..... not ideal, not even good... it will display, but it will be a relatively crappy picture as far as text.

so as you can see, it can be done, but with a lot of limitations....

I have the top of the line Eclipse H/U there is no way to interface the video of a carputer. The audio however can be interfaced. For audio only sometimes I use girder (remote control) without turning the screen on. There are no visual ques on the H/U at all.

Show us some pics of your dash maybe we can come up with some suggestions. My first thought would be a roof mount LCD/VGA if there is room, close to your rear view mirror perhaps if there are no other options.

I'm guessing the dash area looks like this?
