Thread: I just signed up. Wanna give feedback on a parts list?

Hello all.

I am no stranger to the computer world. But I'm new to car audio and and this CarPc thing, so after hours of researching using this awesome forum you guys have here, I put together a parts list for a new CarPc I want to build into my Nissan 350 Z.
It will be used for:

-DVD Movies
-Navigation with IGuidance
-engine management, and when I get a Single Turbo kit on my car it will monitor all my guages, (boost, air/fuel ratios, etc.)
-all media management
-Neo-Geo game emulation in the future with a USB controller I have

Here is the list, please comment:

Shuttle SK43G AMD Socket A(462) Barebone
It's got on-board audio and video, plus 1 pci expansion for future use and an AGP that I won't be using, anybody want it? lol j/k
I have the space for it. I wanted more power than the VIA mobo's in the mp3car store, but didn't wanna get those p4 itx boards.

AMD Athlon XP-M 2400+
(2.00GHz, 512KB, 333MHz, Socket A)
This is where I would really like comments, I haven't build a system with any form of mobile processors, I have always build really fast gaming systems.

1GB PC2700 DDR DIMM Memory Kit ----- (ALREADY BOUGHT)
It is 2 sticks of 512. At a decent price.

Samsung MP0804H 80GB Hard Drive
Subject to change after I visit Fry's. This is currently the cheapest GB to $ ratio on pricegrabber.

(For various uses, like easy input to iGuidance)

This was an impulse buy because of the "Columbus Day Sale", I didn't wanna miss out. Plus I have seen it installed in a 350 Z in person so I know it works and looks good.

Panasonic Slot Load DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo Drive
I am gonna put this in the USB Ultra Slim External Enclosure.
It will then be moved to the center console in the extra DIN slot under my headunit.

USB Hub (I will just pick one up on one of my trips to Fry's)
(For my extended DVD drive, Mini Keyboard, and GPS antenna)


Well thats all I think I need. Any additions? Any comments?
I didn't list software because that comes later and I haven't decide on a front end or if I will write my own.
I pretty much decided on iGuidance for nav though.
