why DONT I want a ide drive in my dash?

I have been told a couple times on here that it's not advisable to mount a slim/ide drive in one of my dims... though i was never offered a reason why...

I have a triple din (Subaru) and am contemplating putting in a 7inch touch screen... which will leave me room on the bottom... i thought i would put a slim dvd drive in though i was told not to, and instead put a volume control and skip buttons... to ease the use of the touchscreen... while this makes sense, i don't understand why an ide drive is a bad idea... too much movement which would cause skips?

    thanks in advance.

    who told you that?

go kick em in the nuts and do what you want to do.

If you use CDs then a slot load will be usefull and lots of people have them there. It is easier to make a slot load dvd look much more stock than volume etc.

I think he means that the space provided one he removes the stereo and all the other crap will be triple din.

whoa mad din space, lucky guy.

I'd take apart an 800TSV and put it in there, and I'd replace the lighter/ashtray section with a custom slotloadDVD + USB hub + Card Reader peice.

    I love the subaru/toyota/nissan ISO-mount style consoles.

    have fun!
