Siemens 15'' Touch Newb Project Help

so heres the situation. i've got a Siemens Simatic 15'' touchscreen pc (see: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll..._BIN_Stores_IT )

right now its running winnt, soon to be xp. Any suggestions on getting a case made for it/mounting it/painting it?

I'm trying to find a way to get it into a 2005 Mazda3 sedan. Where do I begin? Thanks.

You payed over $4000 for that?

This also stumps me... You plan on installing this into your Mazda dash, which is going to take a ton of creativity and custom work, yet you are wondering how to make a case for it? I am soooo confused

    Why?

i paid 150 for this, i was linking to show the model. and im not looking for indash install, which is why i asked for a case , im looking for more of a mount/swivel, but to still integrate it into the car. 15inch with backmount pc is a stretch to mount internally into the car. apologies on the confusion.

oooooooooooo. Well thats a little better. I would make a case out of plexi as its relatively cheap and looks cool. You can build it to whatever size you want. The swivel idea is going to be REALLY tough.

What are the specs on the PC behind the screen?

    the dimensions are 15x5.14

    the pc itself is:

p3 900mhz 500mb ram 4 gig hd - ill be upgrading the components. has ethernet/2usb/vga/com1com2/etc ports on the back. should i look into usb wifi, or since its useable, just a wifi card?

and how do you build a custom case out of plexi? go to a shop and give em the dimensions er?

Hmm, i want one of those! Where did you get it?

As far as the plexi goes, i went to home depot and bought a couple sheets. Made some quick measurements of the dimensions i needed and cut it with a decent table saw blade. I glued it together and it was done. If you need more strength, you can tap the edges for screws.

I guess you could make it out of wood and plexiglass as well if you like. I did not have a source for bending metal, but wood and plexi would probably be cheap and easy, yet strong

hm, where i got it is a different story

so dismount the monitor. mount it to an lcd arm mount

mount the arm against the center console, passenger seat side, so that touch screen rides under center console, pivot out when need to use. any other ideas for mountin a touchscreen this big?

I've always thought, it would be a kickass idea to have a PC based security system in your house. If only network based security devices were more widley available. Like have a PC like that on the wall somewhere, and its hooked up to a switch, and the switch could be networked all over the house to little switches/sensors with built in network interfaces. Then you could easily also hook up network based webcams, relay controllers (for lights, thermostat, blinds etc). I know Its been done, I just think a homebrew of this would be really cool....you could even have a battery backup system for it incase someone kills the power. And it could text you if your power goes out, or if a smoke detector goes off.......unlimited potential.
    PC Components:
    Lilliput; XPC/FLEX mobo; 1.7 ghz P4 Mobile;512 DDR; 160 gb HDD; opus 150; slot usb dvd-rw

That indeed would be pretty cool, but a Windows based security system? not something I'd want in my house...but then again, it's all about the pimp factor.
