Newbie, Thoughts and Ideas needed.

Well I'm a newbie in the carputer field but have been working on computers and networks for years as a Network Administrator. I have done some very lengthly research and have concluded some items that i will purchase to install my carputer, please let me know if i should change anything around and give me your thoughts, thanks.

2005 Nissan Xterra SE (Without Rockford Fosgate)

HU- Replace with Pioneer DEH-P4700MP
Speakers - Same
Carputer - Logic Supply voomPC Mini-ITX Car SystemCarputer Features I Plan:
XM
Navigation (GPS)
Web Browser
Bluetooth Support
Itunes (Maybe)

LCD Mounted in area before the shifter or tray on top of dash

Two LCD's in each headrest or one single one in Headliner.

Carputer will be under the driver seat lots of room under there and close to center console so i can route all the wiring though it.

All looks fine to me, although i'd be hesitant to put the screen in front of the shift cos that big stick will get in the way. On the top tray might be a bit too high once u've got it all set up tho. U considered getting an amp and fitting the creen where the old Hu one is?

Thats my only suggestion as there ain't much else to comment on

He said he was going to replace the HU. Good thing, too. That's the perfect spot for the screen!

Yeh I know he said he was going to replace the headunit. But if u read it he said he was replacing it with another headunit... at least this is what the link is pointing to... and when he says where he is thinking about mounting the screens he doesn't suggest this as an option.

We both agree that that spot is PERFECT for the screen tho

i 3rd that option. fit the screen where your stock HU is. it looks like on top of the stock HU is some type of plastic cover? if it can come out take it out and make a custom housing for the pioneer and mount it on top of the screen.

Yeap. That is probably the best idea.

You can see some examples of that setup, and perhaps get some ideas, by searching for WRX's. Many WRX owners remove the double din stock stereo, install a screen in it's place, and install a single din stereo up above BECAUSE, subaru makes an OEM part that simply bolts in up above the old stereo location, and accepts a single din unit.

I am a newbie too but how will you get the carputer sound over the speakers? If you are going to get that Pio deck I would get a Pio CB-RB10. It converts the CD changer plug to a rca aux input. Good luck.

Well that is why i choose that deck, it has a aux input to allow me to input the carputer audio, then on top of that the HU also supports IPOD, XM and CD formats, MP3 formats, AM/FM, so I'm not totally reliant on the carputer for audio. I really just using the Craputer for Navigation, DVD, and some audio purposes.
