    Newbie Q: LCD and SQ

    Hello all

I'm planning to do what everyone here is doing - install a carputer in my baby. I'm spending a lot of time driving and have a bunch of mp3 CD's and it's frustrating to remember what is on which one and labeling isn't doing any good... so, I have some questions, hope you'll give me some answers. Yes, I used and offcourse but most of related topics are going offtopic after few pages so I couldn't come to a conclusion...

1: Are those cheap Avatar/Super/Xyz VGA touchscreen displays like this one any good? On eBay they are much cheaper than Lilliput or Xenarc and I read few times somewhere on this forum that they are using same LCD panels as Xenarc, and touchscreen drivers too. So, for a n00b with limited budget...?

    2. There is a Sony CDX-M8800 with amplifiers for all speakers installed in my car. Sony has audio (AUX) input, but I was wondering could it be replaced with only carputer, connecting it to amplifiers. Only problem is the sound quality - can a soundcard like Creative Audigy or something similar (like Terratec maybe) replace it? I've found this topic but again it went offtopic discussing the quality of Alpine's equiliser or something. Selling the Sony could cover about 1/3 of the whole project, maybe even more so you understand why I ask that. And there is the cool factor involved too . So far it seems that KX drivers can do a lot of things including high and low pass filtering for speakers and subwoofer which is very important - but what about SQ?

    Thanx in advance
