Want to build carputer, many questions inside

Hello, my first question is would you favor a micro ITX over a standard ATX for power consumption? I'm thinking of fabricating an MDF box for my 'puter and putting it in the boot would this be OK or would I be limited by the maximum length that certain cables can be E.G. VGA. How do you guys make your 'puter installations so professional looking? With the Lilliput screens where the old head unit used to be it looks amazing. I have loads more but that's all I can remember for now.
